The History of a Name
The name of our winery was naturally given due to our special location. We are on the hillsides of one of the most famous Vosges summit called the "Hartmannswillerkopf" (in German).
Renamed by the press media for a pronunciation reason, the "Hartmannswillerkopf" was became the "Vieil Armand" in French. It was one of the most important battlefields in Alsace during the First World War.
Facing these tragic events, our winegrowers chose to associate themselves to take up the challenge of rebuilding their vineyards.
A century later, thanks to the hard work of each of our winegrowers, our magnificent vineyard has become one of the most favourable environment for obtaining wines of an incomparable quality !
